In early 2019, I had no will to keep living.
I had gotten out of a long string of, dare I say, toxic relationships.
I was, and I don’t say this lightly, suicidal.
My skating career, which I had focused all my teenage years on, was done.
I didn’t want to continue.
After years of thinking I’d go abroad for studies, I settled for a college in my hometown.
So, what does a suicidal, self-loathing 19-year-old do when all hope seems lost?
Finding My Why
Until then, I had only been hitting the gym for strength and conditioning.
Our sport demands you have decent leg and core strength.
So, I only did legs for the first 5 years of my gym training up until 2019.
To be hyper-specific, just quads and abs :) (Don’t skip calves, lads)
But now, I wanted to look bigger, more aesthetic.
My reason for walking into the gym was to attract girls.
That’s it.
Every day, for about 3 months, I trained diligently just to look attractive.
I added 10 eggs to my daily diet and hoped for the best.
And, somehow, it worked.
I packed on a good amount of muscle in the first three months.
That transformation was all I needed to keep going.
Screw the girls, I wanna do this for me 💅
The Journey So Far
Over the next 3 years, I had lots of ups and downs in my weight-lifting journey.
I quit for up to 6 months sometimes and hit the gym harder than ever for the next 2.
But, I still managed to look decently attractive, with some decent muscle mass.
Along the way, I realized that packing on muscle is REALLY FUCKING SIMPLE.
It’s made to look complicated.
By whom?
Retarded fitness influencers who want to sell their fad supplement line.
Or their autistic workout routine.
Let me say that again, muscle building is VERY simple, but not easy.
It’s so simple in fact, building the muscle you want comes down to a 3-step formula.
That’s exactly what I’ll be covering in the next three newsletters I’ll be publishing.
Spoiler alert— It comes down to Training Protocol, Nutrition, and Recovery.
I’ll give you all the knowledge and tools you need to pack on at least 5kgs of muscle in the first year of lifting.
And, that’s me lowballing it.
In the last 3 years, I’ve gone from 69kgs to 82kgs.
If I knew all the things I knew today, I reckon I could have knocked off 1.5 years of that.
If I could train 19-year-old Ashwin, I could get where I currently am in HALF THE TIME.
But, that’s not possible, so I hope to do that for you.
It’s time to get those gains baby.
